About the Role
Red River College Polytechnic (RRC Polytech) is seeking a dynamic Research Chair in Sustainable Construction to lead applied, industry-driven research at the Building Efficiency Technology Access Centre (BETAC). This position focuses on innovation in building efficiency, sustainable construction, and high-performance housing.
Reporting to the BETAC Director, the Chair will:

Lead applied research initiatives aligned with BETAC’s mandate

Develop strong industry partnerships and secure external funding

Deliver impactful research outcomes, practical tools, and training programs

Mentor co-op students and collaborate with RRC Polytech instructors

Generate revenue through fee-for-service projects and grant success
Success in this role is measured through real-world impact, training enrollments, funding secured, and strong collaborative networks.
Required Qualifications

PhD in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, or a related field

Proven success in research program leadership and grant acquisition (e.g., NSERC, NRCan)

Strong experience in sustainable construction, energy efficiency, or related fields

Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage project budgets

Demonstrated partnership-building skills with industry and government

Experience delivering training and integrating research into academic settings

Excellent communication, leadership, and HR/financial management skills
